Lol, it’s just annoying that he wasted 5 years of this franchise and their GOAT’s prime by GMing like a complete coward just to see he had it in him to be aggressive all along, he just chose not to.  And no, it’s not an Arte thing because Minasian has also been aggressive to start the offseason

What? It's an Arte thing. Whatever happens is an Arte thing.

You have to appreciate that the Angels situation when Mr. Billy took over was quite a bit different than the situation he took over in NY.  I mean surely you understand this.  A lot of what the Angels do is apparently on the whims of Arturo.  Eppler struck out on a bunch of guys the last 3 or 4 years.  Guys that were heavily pursued by other big teams.  I’m pretty sure the markets for Cahna, Escobar and Marte were less competitive than the markets for uhh Patrick Corbin or Zach Wheeler.  No disrespect to those other guys.  All pretty good players.  But they weren’t being pursued the same.

Yes, because the Mets' shopping spree today and the Angels' past reticence are both solely due to Eppler being a coward before and finding his spine now. 🙄

Its ownership, you donut. It has jack all to do with Eppler.

Explains why Minasian has been more aggressive here than Eppler ever was

The situation isn’t different.  Eppler had money to spend here and in New York and ended up whiffing on all of them and ending up with dogshit year after year.  Whereas Minasian actually was aggressive about getting the upgrade he wanted (Syndergaard)

Once again you ignore the actual situation.

What am I ignoring?  Eppler blew substantial money every year in free agency here, and he alone is responsible for choosing the crap he thought was worth paying for.  Canha, Marte, and Escobar will be making around 40 million this season combined, Epp gave that much money to have Teheran, Harvey, Allen, and Cahill to all be below replacement level here, when everyone knew they had very limited upside as free agent signings.

Eppler was here for four years and gave out 4 multi year deals to free agents.  He’s been in NY a week and signed three multi year free agents today. Wanna wager whether or not he will give out another this off season?  Eppler made some bad one year pitching signings. But pretending the situation is the same is ignorant at best.

Eppler was limited to short term deals here because they were waiting for the farm to develop. He explicitly said that when he joined the Mets. But sure, same situation.

What do you call 2 year deals for Canha and Escobar?

This isn't that hard. It's Arte, not Eppler or Minasian. Arte and Dipoto screwed this team over by trying to extend our window and blew the farm. It's their fault we weren't competitive before now. Blaming Eppler is exactly what Arte wants so he can avoid culpability for how long this rebuild lasted.

Arte told Eppler he had to sign the names that he signed?
