Offense peaking at the right time.  What is the elimination number to a top 10 draft pick?

Right now, they're still sitting at the 12th pick.  They'd have to fall behind at least Detroit and Colorado to get a top 10 pick--so they'd have to play 3 games or so worse than both of them the rest of the way.

Yep, you're probably right.  A lot of people will say he did really well given all the injuries.  I think they have managed that in spite of him but whatever, it really is surprising they went this long before having all the wheels fall off.  His bullpen management drives me nuts but the reality is it was a shit bullpen to start with.  But if it ever comes out that he IS the guy behind the defensive alignments ... I'm going to have to pull an AO and self ban to avoid annoying you guys more than I already have with my constant bitching about the defense.

Yeah, they've got to fix the defensive positioning. Whether it's Maddon, Gallego, Butterfield, the front office, or whoever it is. You don't HAVE to fire them, but whoever it is clearly isn't good at it. So remove those duties from them and find someone who is better at it.

About the only reason I have been watching the games this last month was to see how Adell and Marsh were going to play. For a season with so few reasons to give two shits for, it's down to one.

i've also been watching to see what ohtani and walsh do. outside of them and the two kids, there isn't a single thing about which to be excited.

Outside of Ohtani's historical season and getting a look at some of our young guys, this campaign has royally sucked.

Walsh, Stassi and Iglesias were bright spots as well, but the latter will sting worse if he's not extended before season end or retained.

I hope we pick up a decent starter in FA or via trade, and I also hope Fletcher figures out how to hit a baseball again.

And...fire some coaches!!!

Ohtani and Iglesias have definitely been bright spots.  Walsh seems to have stabilized a bit lately, which is good.  I was starting to have some doubts about him.  I'm still not entirely sure what to make of Stassi.  He's fallen off dramatically since the beginning of August and just doesn't have a long enough history of offensive success for me to fully trust that he can be above league-average as a hitter over the course of a full season.  He's still solid on defense, of course--especially when the alternative is Suzuki!
