He's signing on to be an agent, not looking for representation.

This is all part of Arte’s master plan. Eppler will help the Angels sign better pitchers in his new role

I think it's more likely that Eppler fulfilled his dream of being an MLB GM and after spending 5 years working with Arte he realized he was better off working on the other side.

It's been less than a year.  It is common for a year off or so.

This is such a dumb comparison that I can’t believe you’re actually trying to make it.  He stepped down because he didn’t want to be an executive anymore and took a job with the league 2 months later
