What part of it is sad ?  It’s about resource management and even if Adell or Marsh aren’t the answer I’d rather use those resources on pitching, rotation or bullpen.

you think giving up a controlled pitcher with pretty good upside to get rid of the last year of an expensive but still productive player is a good use of resources ? Damn, have you sent your resume into the Angels ? I think you've got a shot !!

Upside doesn’t mean $hit in 2022, which is what we’re talking about.  If you give me a choice, I’d rather have Stroman / Gausman / Syndegaard then Canning & Upton next year.

I think you’re operating on a false premise here.  I don’t know that it’s strictly the case that Upton has to go in order for the Angels to get a guy like the 3 you mentioned there.    You can never have enough pitchers.  You especially never have enough controlled guys like Canning.  Also, at this point you’re probably trading low on Canning.  Bad move imo.

I’d throw someone like Canning in with some A-ball prospects (top 10)  like to unload all or part of Uptons salary if it meant bringing in a TOR.

Upton has a no trade clause. I don't see him going anywhere.

Canning has diminished trade value right now. He was demoted to AAA. Had one start with SLC, gave up 6 runs in 2 innings and moved to the IL 3 weeks ago with a lower back strain.
