Upton, Ward, and Stassi...

I have to admit Ward is surprising me.  I have strongly been in the camp that he is a sunk cost, waste of time (other than an emergency body to throw out there).

It would be a pleasure to be proven completely wrong.

I think Ward and Walsh was a godsend, what if they hadn’t stepped up?

It was when Trout got hurt, and Ward took over, that I realized they were two different people.

Ward is a massive upgrade over Pujols getting at bats. Can run the bases, can defend a little. I think he has some potential to get a bit better offensively. I’m hoping for a 115 OPS+ out of him eventually

I believe if Pujols were still on the team, it's possible Walsh would be getting a lot of at-bats in right field when Pujols would play at 1st. If Walsh is in right field then that would eliminate a lot of the playing time Ward has been getting there (he has played 24 games in right, 19 games in center, and 1 game in left). I wouldn't say it has a lot to do with Pujols but it definitely isn't nothing.

Walsh played in RF 18 games before Pujols was DFAed.

Number of times after: zero.

So yeah, it did have an impact on Ward's playing time.  Walsh in RF = Ward on the bench (or AAA before May 5).

If Walsh was bumped back to right field Ward would be in center since Lagares since can't hit water if he fell out of Arte's yacht.
