Skilled divers can access the “Underwater River,” also known as “Cenote Angelita Cave.” The trees and plants which appear to grow out of the “river,” is actually just an optical illusion caused by a cloud of hydrogen sulfide interacting with the saltwater.

This Canadian schooner from 1867 sunk in Big Tub Harbour in 1885. It’s only 10 feet underwater, so even novice divers can go searching it’s 100-year-old corridors.

nate, my dad was a huge fan of the old cadillacs from the 50s that had those big tails. my brother and i were embarrassed to no end by them.

but the good thing about them was learning to drive in a '64 caddy. by then the big tail wings had been toned down greatly, but it was still a monstrously long car. i felt like the king of the road in that baby. learning to parallel park in one was a challenge, but i learned well enough that parallel parking never scared me (and i was pretty good at it).

That is the continental package with the extended rear end.

When the engine blew on my 84 300zx (my fault, dumb 20 year old mistakes), my friend's dad gave me his 1971 Chrysler 300 until I could get a new car.  It was huge, heavy, the steering was shot, the front suspension was shot, and it drank gas like Sark drinks cocktails.  Still, after driving that thing I was pretty convinced I could handle anything.  One time driving to work, the power brakes went out on it, it was so heavy, I had to stand on the break pedal with both feet.  Ended up going right through the intersection I was trying to stop at, miraculously without destroying any puny little cars that were in my way.

It was like the one below only it was black and rust colored.

The 1971 Chrysler line had an oddly dead feel to the power steering as well. When my father went to summer field training with his Air National Guard unit, we rented a 1971 Plymouth Fury to make the drive from Jacksonville to Gulfport, MS. No road feel at all, the thing wandered all over the road, and it was a new car. About the size of the land barge shown above.

Thanks for sharing this.  I had a Fury back in 1988-89.  I think it was a '72, now I wished I had taken a picture of it.  I thought the motor boat type steering, and stopping eventually was because it was abused before I got it.  Didn't realize that was a factory spec. :)

I also remembered I couldn't put more than a half a tank of gas in it or it would pour out the back.  It was a great winter car, since heat would pour out of the vents non stop.  Really uncomfortable to drive during the summer in Las Vegas,
