I read a story about this one. It happened at a Home Depot, as I recall. The people at the store implored the guy not to try to carry the lumber home on his car but he insisted. They had him sign a waiver that said that they told him that it was unsafe to even attempt it. The weight broke the shock absorber and spring mounts on the rear of the vehicle, damaging it beyond repair.

Depends on what part of the world it is in.  They do some crazy shit in some places where vehicle laws are lax.  So those photos really don't surprise me.
