A few places that I have been over the years.

 

 

London. My favorite city on the planet.

 

 

 

Paris. Going to the top of the Eiffel Tower at night is something that everyone should do at least once.

 

 

 

St. John's. My mother's birthplace, and the seat of my Canadian heritage.

 

 

 

Bath. A must see if you make it to England.

 

 

 

Liverpool. Very friendly people, but very hard to understand. My friend from Cornwall warned me about that before I went. said that the English couldn't understand them.

 

 

Hay-on-Wye (Wales). Known as the town of books, filled with used book stores. Anything rare or out of print, you may find it here.

 

 

 

Stonehenge. Wasn't really sure what I would think of it, but it's impressive. The down side: You can't get very close to it due to a perimeter cable strung around the site. Too much trash, damage and vandalism from tourists, I suppose.

 

 

 

Chicago. Had a blast there years ago. Great museums.

 

 

 

Miami. I grew up in Florida, and I still don't get the appeal.

vegas, when i was in high school i wanted to move to halifax, nova scotia as an adult. main reason? i love the name. don't know anything about the city or the region or the province, but the name just always sounded way cool.

When we traveled from Florida to St. John's to visit my grandparents, we always connected at Halifax. A couple of times we landed first at Yarmouth, NS, where we went through Canadian customs. The terminal didn't seem much bigger than a suburban house. Yarmouth no longer has commercial airline service.

As far as I am concerned, the Maritime Provinces of Canada are very underrated in terms of scenery and hospitality. If there are friendlier people anywhere than Newfoundlanders, I haven't met them - although the Welsh come close.
