Maybe. Or maybe he's just trying to get into everyone's head, which he is obviously very good at.

This feels weird but Glen is wrong (well okay to be fair so far this doesn't feel THAT weird) and Jay is right (OK, we're in really weird territory now). Trump is clearly using basic psychology to manipulate not only expectations about the debate but fueling the mistrust many have regarding the closeness of the left and media and especially NBC News/MSNBC. The only thing more astounding that he has the balls er whatever to do it so openly is that it kind of works.

Oh, it's obvious that he's poisoning the well. His followers are already convinced that the debates will be unfair and slanted towards Hillary. No matter how bad he comes off he'll already have an excuse.

Debates should be between the candidates, not between the candidates and moderators. This is how Candy Crowley got in trouble.

If a moderator questions something a candidate says, he/she should give the other candidate a chance to refute.

But it goes beyond the debates. It just further fodder in the constant attacks on H. Clinton's trustworthiness and ties with the establishment especially aimed at depressing the youth liberal vote already pissed at the DNC/Sanders debacle.

This debate is curious to say the least.

1. Trump can't really lose barring some unforeseen act by him which even by his standards would be unlikely.
2. Clinton can't win. She is SUPPOSED to know everything policy-wise while expectations for him are...lower.
3. People are going to be more focused on whether she literally dies on stage than any message she aims to deliver.
4. Each candidate only suffers when trying to sell themselves and will do everything in their power to make the conversation about the other and in Trumps case the moderator.
5. Can the moderators escape without entirely alienating the entire country?
6.  The entire debate will within a week or two be distilled into a single soundbite. Lockbox anyone?

Just now, captain howdy said:

Darrel Hammond as Gore talking about Etta Munson was one of my favorite things ever on SNL.

The 2000 election was absolute gold.

My wife and I joke about that all the time.  "Under my opponent's plan, not only would none of Etta's health care be paid for but her house will be burned down"

Ferrell as Bush "I don't think his figurs are accurate"
