I wonder how many countries are shit holes because of U.S. foreign policy? Not all of them of course but some are.

I see Trump and Rudy were talking about instigating a revolution in Iran through sanctions recently (I don't think this was fake news). Have we learned nothing from meddling?

You can't complain about a fire when you helped light the match.

Many Iranians love Trump and are grateful for his efforts to help win their freedom from the Mullahs.  The way he is working his foreign policy is far superior to the way  the neocons worked theirs.

Does mtangelsfan and Taylor also question why people of other countries have a sense of pride and patriotism?

Why do you prioritize your family over others families?

Is it really that hard to understand?

I prioritize my family, but my country isn't my family. And I don't believe my family members have more inherent value than people who aren't in my family.

I think nationalism is misguided no matter what country you live in, but I can only speak about the "America First!" types since I've never personally encountered people from other countries who had extreme patriotism. I know they exist, I'm just not familiar with them.

I'm talking about our history with Iran. You know, the incident in the 1950's, a coup of sorts. A dictator taking over......hostages.....radicals....

The whole idea of the nation state is that of an extended family.  It’s a people who share culture, and values who work together so that they may pursue the lives they were destined to live.

I find it sad and telling that many people don’t even understand the value of the nation state.

By the way, no one claimed anyone had any more or less intrinsic value than anyone else.

Harry Reid: Trump Barred From Casino Business In Nevada Due To Sordid Record

It isn't because of his character, but because of his "sterling" record as a businessman, running casinos into the ground.

Yeah Reid's trustworthiness is a bit lacking. Though the big issue would be getting anyone to trust him enough to get funding. On the other hand even after this presidency I bet if he came funding in hand for a ten-billion dollar resort north of the Stratosphere, I bet they'd listen pretty intently.
