You have a point. I choose to concentrate on the important stuff - like whether our Commander in Chief did ion fact enlist the support of a historical enemy to assist him in winning the election.

How can that be possible? I am reminded every day by those on the left that he's an blithering idiot. How can he both be that and a person capable of such actions?

So you're OK with Trump selling out to them. Like I said...

Did trump recognize Putin's annexation of Crimea? No

Did he remove the sanctions? No

Is he helping them with their pipeline/ oil deals with the EU? No

What the F*ck are you blabbing about

He doesn't have to be smart to enlist the support of others to get him elected. He just has to have smart (or connected) campaign people around him.

I think on some things (economics) he IS a blithering idiot. But he is smart enough to have had some shrewd people around him. However, in his lunacy, he's fired most of them...or did not properly vet some.

You actually believe enough of what he says to actually think he believes what he is saying? You believe he is in any way sincere is his stated policy beliefs? What you can believe are his actions. Do they imply an idiot? Or a shrewd dangerous man with little to no moral compulsions? However the more the opposition minimizes Trump as an idiot, the more people have a reason to disbelieve the allegations. The opposition really is its own worst enemy most of the time.

When you have tons of money, you can surround yourself with  people who can figure things out and who are totally loyal to you.

What? Ask any professional athlete. Unless they were with you at day zero, you have no idea if they are loyal to you or the paycheck. This narrative is killing the oppositions message regarding his misdeeds. Isn't that the most important thing?

Oh I believe he has no moral compulsions...other than what benefits Trump. I also believe he's Putin's Manchurian Candidate.

It doesn't matter if I think he's stupid or not. I would rather he is, because if he isn't, he's a traitor.

Either way, he's unqualified.

Trump has been obnoxiously pro-Russia since the very beginning.  Even when presented with clear crimes they have committed against America. He has acted like a man that has been compromised.

He is fulfilling his obligation to Putin for their help in the election. Even the top Republicans in Congress are outraged at his kow·towing to Putin.

When Newt Gingrich comes out against a Republican President, he has definitely crossed the line.

See, you make my point for me. Thanks. It obviously matters. He is a traitor. His complicity needs to be exposed.

All of the sudden the Democrats are pushing for war with a nuclear superpower.

I guess the Democrats no longer believe in diplomacy and peace. That's putting it nicely, because for the longest time they have been perceived as pacifists.

If I back the truck up you will be responsible to hose out all the hurl you just left in the bed, won't you?

I honestly think he sounds stupid because he's dumbing his message down for his base in Middle America. After all he loves "the poorly educated".

He's really not that dumb though...even though he doesn't have a clue about the consequences of his tariffs. I DO think he is a traitor. The Russians have something on him.

“Today’s press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory. The damage inflicted by President Trump’s naivete, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is difficult to calculate. But it is clear that the summit in Helsinki was a tragic mistake.

President Trump proved not only unable, but unwilling to stand up to Putin. He and Putin seemed to be speaking from the same script as the president made a conscious choice to defend a tyrant against the fair questions of a free press, and to grant Putin an uncontested platform to spew propaganda and lies to the world.

“It is tempting to describe the press conference as a pathetic rout — as an illustration of the perils of under-preparation and inexperience. But these were not the errant tweets of a novice politician. These were the deliberate choices of a president who seems determined to realize his delusions of a warm relationship with Putin’s regime without any regard for the true nature of his rule, his violent disregard for the sovereignty of his neighbors, his complicity in the slaughter of the Syrian people, his violation of international treaties, and his assault on democratic institutions throughout the world.

“Coming close on the heels of President Trump’s bombastic and erratic conduct towards our closest friends and allies in Brussels and Britain, today’s press conference marks a recent low point in the history of the American presidency. That the president was attended in Helsinki by a team of competent and patriotic advisers makes his blunders and capitulations all the more painful and inexplicable.

“No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant. Not only did President Trump fail to speak the truth about an adversary; but speaking for America to the world, our president failed to defend all that makes us who we are — a republic of free people dedicated to the cause of liberty at home and abroad. American presidents must be the champions of that cause if it is to succeed. Americans are waiting and hoping for President Trump to embrace that sacred responsibility. One can only hope they are not waiting totally in vain.

I stay out of this forum usually, because i could spend my internet time looking at porn (and sometimes baseball).

But fwiw, last year I was in Russia. It was right after we bombed Syria, so the locals were polite but awkward. (There was an anti US rally outside of my hotel the day i got there).

Something that stood out. A guy I spent a few days with (one of my guides) (who was cool as hell) told me before the election, Russian media kept saying hillary would lead us to war. When trump got elected, russian government heads were seen celebrating on TV like dipoto drafting ward.

I dont know why, or what it means. But to think for a second trump isnt in bed with them is foolish...

Maybe. The Atlantic piece implies this has its origins all the way in the 80s. He may not be this helpless puppet either. But yeah, Trump clearly knows his base. Unless you think he really likes trucker hats. His speech is dramatically different from fifteen to twenty years ago. It's a poor charade that for some reason has been embraced on both sides, for radically different reasons.

I understand the trepidation though. Perhaps not as much as Trump is in bed with Russia,  but the mainstream Democrats were oddly hawkish against Russia. Really out of character in that regard. Like there is a chess game in progress that we aren't privileged enough to be made privy to.

Or maybe they really didn't trust Hillary at all to lead a superpower and figured Trump was benign. Which, for the most part, he is. Without the political capital that Hillary had, Trump doesn't have the ability to manipulate Congress and so he really has limited powers.

Russia is probably very thankful she insulted such a large majority of voters and also ignored them like they were peasants and didn't matter. It didn't take an outside source to do any damage to her campaign, her people did it themselves.

1) He completely undermines the Fourth Estate.

2) He cozies up to dictators--especially Putin--while publicly insulting our allies.

3) He continues to use his office for his own personal financial gain.

4) He essentially gives the middle finger to every leader around the world--with the notable exceptions of those whom he can financially benefit from--and those who probably helped him get elected (Putin).

5) During his campaign, he actively called for a foreign power (again, Russia) to intervene on his behalf by "finding" Hillary's emails.
