These people are asylum seekers.  They didn't cross the border illegally.  They went to the border and asked for asylum.  That is not a crime.

I really do wonder what kind of a miserable human being you have to be to see small children being torn away from their parents for the “crime” of running from extreme poverty.  In some cases terrible violence.  And the first thing you think is, justice ! 

Congrats on being lucky enough to have been randomly squeezed out in one of the better latitudes and longitudes.  Definitely a great accomplishment.
