George W Bush made overt threats to the North Koreans along with a few other rogue states...the whole "axis of evil" thing

https://www.balloon-juice.com/2018/05/02/deterring-regime-change/

In his 2002 State of the Union speech, George W. Bush listed Iraq, Iran, and North Korea as the Axis of Evil. The next year, the United States invaded Iraq, whose nuclear weapons program had been removed after the 1991 war. Shortly after the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Libya gave up its nascent nuclear program.  In 2011, Muhammar Ghaddafi was deposed and killed. The lesson for Iran and North Korea was obvious: Only nuclear weapons would deter the United States from attempting regime change.

You seriously believe that is what it took is all.  I suspected you had a magic MAGA hat you wore but now I think you have the full collectors set. That LGBTQ rainbow MAGA hat I hear is rare.

Kurt, follow along for more than just the one thing you read that triggers your PTSD from your time working in a paint shop in Costa Mesa (without an OSHA approved  respirator) and having to paint Jesus riding a dinosaur on a van that was previously used to hand out free candy to kids.

I was addressing this post.

First off, Balloon Juice? Really, that's your go to source?

Second, there are no hellfire statements and in fact not one quote from the President in the article. It's just an Op-Ed.

Both UTH and I started off with "you seriously think," and "you seriously believe." I am scoring this based on that.

You were close though because in the early 90's I did work at a custom shop, where the owner of Circus Circus and other casino big wigs brought all their high priced toys. I wasn't a painter but the guy there could paint a good Jesus on a dinosaur on a van.  The handing out candy part merely came from one of your lobes in your cerebrum.  Your MAGA hat must be crooked today.

Well not having oil or other lucrative petroleum products helps too.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure you don’t need a broken down reminder with links and direct quotes  of Bush’s State of union address...or..you know...the fucking war that we are still suffering the consequences of.

I’m not giving credit to Trump, but what he said and what Bush said aren’t even comparable.

Your claim was other presidents had threatened war, nuclear war on North Korea. Now you are running away from that statement and changing the subject.

I agree with this in principle but there are other factors, one is that of China softening it's position on backing North Korea.

Blarg, I’m not running from anything.  The United States has in action threatened war with North Korea for the last 60 + years.  Donald Trumps big mouth didn’t send any signal that the deployed military forces of our country hasn’t already been sending very effectively.

You asked me a dumb question that you knew there was no response to.  You knew exactly what I was getting at.

So, you've got nothing.

Thanks.

You were lashing out at someone else with a fabrication. You still won't own it.

As everybody is aware, the past Administration has long been asking for three hostages to be released from a North Korean Labor camp, but to no avail. Stay tuned!

Blarg, now google 2 of the 3 and who was POTUS when they were detained.  Then call me a name with some snide comment. MAGA!!

That has nothing to do with the subject in question. But keep pounding that nail.

2008-2016 no pull out of the middle east as was promised. Further extension of involvement encompassing more countries and a regime change in Lybia causing more instability.

Yeah, your team is such a peace loving group.

Lol, this is crazy.  Lashing out !? I asked him a question and it was a fair one.  Yes, I am a bit taken aback that some people apparently truly think that Donald Trumps random comments and tweets were the secret sauce in making North Korea do something new.

Are you picking a fight with me in some obtuse way? These three are getting released and you somehow have found issues with it? Why?

I don't have a team dude, that is your problem. I voted Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama and always liked McCain, till he signed up the BSCMILF.  I hate Hillary and likely would have voted for another (R)thhan him.  I knew this guy should have been locked up way before Stormy or collusion.  It is not a (D), (R) hing for me but I smell a rat and it is a (T) thing.

You fabricated a statement, is that too much for you to admit to?

Never mind, we've gone over this three times.

I was responding to Red. Your post wedged in between.

I voted for Kasich in the primaries thinking he would ratchet up his campaign instead of rolling over and playing dead. I was never voting Hillary, which I've made perfectly clear. In California it doesn't matter who you vote for, unless his name is Reagan, the Democrat nominee is taking the state.

You have Trump as president because Hillary failed miserably as a human being, buying up the party and filling her campaign with yes men to feed her ego that wouldn't tell her she is blowing away a cross section of America that would swing the election her way.

How is it that can be misconstrued that the US has threatened annihilation of North Korea in the past?

Yeah, you are right...one was made in a formal speech to Congress and the nation, followed by an actual war...while the other was a tweet

Ya I remember when Bush invaded Iraq under false pretenses. What I don't recall is him threatening to bomb and invade North Korea.
