I work for an S&P 500 company and just got a promotion with a nearly 20% pay increase.

And let's say you did actually just get a promotion and 20% pay increase. That most likely had nothing to do with the tax cuts as most large companies run their annual review cycle at the end of the year with discussion of the review in January/February and then hand out compensation/merit increases in the February/March timeframe.
