I can't imagine what a bitch it would be to have to fill out Kushner's SF-86. If he gets a security clearance, it will be just another sign that the drain was never being swamped to begin with.

Corporate profits are at an all time high and have been for years running.  The idea that these tax breaks were necessary for these companies to give their employees a bonus is ridiculous.  Wages have been suppressed for 2 decades +. It’s great that people are getting bonuses but it’s quite a narrative that they’re trying to sell about the cause.  This is a one time thing.  Many states are raising their minimum wage anyway.  The economy is booming and its strength isn’t just because of the tax break.

designed to curb solar in the US to fatten the pockets of his energy buddies.

will also lead to a ton of jobloss since solar will be more expensive leading to fewer sales and thus fewer installations.

The article said that a majority of solar panels were made in China and that this is designed to promote US production. If US companies get more production possibilities, isn't that a good thing? Won't it create more jobs here ultimately? And I'm not terribly concerned about this causing joblessness in China.

China floods every US market with cheaper goods. Why choose this one to make the stand?

No, because they will be expensive and fewer people will buy them.  It is not a new thing, Chinese solar panels have been about 70% of the market for more than five years now.

Not to mention it will lead to Chinese trade retaliation, it is bad policy, and it is definitely bad capitalism.

US produced solar panels also cost more.  Either way it's a price the consumer will have to pay.  It's a straight up hit job on the solar industry.

China subsidizes their solar industry to purposely undercut our panel manufacturing. This tariff is a reaction to that.

This is one area where I agree with Trump. We've been taking it directly in the ass from China for too long.

Wouldn't it be better to subsidize our own solar panel industry so it could be competitive with China?

It wasn't easy but we found something that it's hard to fault Trump too hard on. Seeing as Europe who has been heralded as the leaders in using solar technology, especially since their energy costs dwarf our country's, beat him to it.
