Haha, his staffer is the one who reported the comments to WaPo. What did you expect?

Also what's interesting is he was very careful (at least in this instance) not to say specifically that Trump said the "shithole" comment. But he did hit the usual buzz words like racist, hate filled, divisiveness etc.

Can't stand these scum.

The issue isn't that these places are/aren't perfect paradises.  The issue is the POTUS shouldn't be implying that people from these countries have no value as immigrants.  See the difference?  So how his comments are a problem?

You can't say that is what he is saying because you have no context for what he said, and now you don't even know for sure if that's what he said. But that hasn't stopped anyone before I guess, so nothing new.

Like I'm supposed to believe something from Fox News.

Option A: El Salvador isn't a "shithole," so they don't need 17 years of Temporary Protected Status, and migrants from there should be sent home immediately. Option B: El Salvador is, in fact, a "shithole." https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-attacks-protections-for-immigrants-from-shithole-countries-in-oval-office-meeting/2018/01/11/bfc0725c-f711-11e7-91af-31ac729add94_story.html?utm_term=.9bcfded9313d

That Tucker slime bucket is as bad as Trump IMO. He belongs on Fox News, like he could actually get a job on another network anyway.

The country has a right to choose to let people in who they feel are compatible with our values and society, and can grow our economy instead of coming over and being a burden on the economy.

But of course you have to turn it into a morals game.

That's the problem.  You see them as a burden when they actually aren't.  They live here, they work, they buy stuff, they pay taxes.  They are actually a positive to the economy.

Tucker Carlson is awesome.

And he's right. If El Salvador isn't a shithole, why do we need to have El Salvadorians on TPS? Well, because El Salvador is a shithole apparently.

Many, many, many of them end up on government assistance because they don't have the skills to succeed, and end up taking from the government far more than they pay back in taxes. That's a net loss.

But sure there are gonna be success stories and those are great, those are the kind of people we should be getting instead of just grabbing blocks of people from poor countries.

I am saying that those two positions are opposing one another.  You can't give away free stuff while allowing the line to get infinitely longer.

We live in a capitalist society.  Having a few socialist programs doesn't change that.

And oh yeah, being a capitalist country we need continues population growth.  That is the very basic need for capitalism to work.  Did we forget that?

I'm pretty sure our population is growing rapidly even without immigration. People are breeding like rabbits.

And we hardly live in a true capitalist society. It's more like crony capitalism.

He better never leave Fox if he wishes to to work at reputable new agency. He maybe able to get a local gig in the deep south where 49% of voters voted for another racist pedophile, or start a blog. But don't look for work at the Times CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS or any national or international news agency.

Are there any actual studies that back these claims?  I know a while ago the Trump administration buried a government study that said these immigrants made a positive impact to our economy.

Anyway, the people of Norway formally reject our shithole country.

And a word from Trumps peeps.

Right-wing extremists and white supremacists welcomed Trump’s comment. Former Ku Klux Klan leader and Louisiana legislator David Duke said the president “restores a lot of love in us by saying blunt but truthful things that no other president in our lifetime would dare say!”

Quite a ringing endorsement. Louisiana must really be something when a KKK grand wizard can have a part in making your laws god help you.

Screw David Duke. 99.99% of Trump supporters will agree with me.

Economic benefits of illegal immigrants

Consumer demand

An employer may benefit from the illegal status of a migrant who is desperate for work and therefore prepared to accept poor pay, usually below local norms. If paid under the table rather than using a stolen social security number, hiring an illegal worker also brings the employer the advantage of paying less in the way of welfare contributions and other non-wage costs.[19]

Nearly every dollar earned by illegal immigrants is spent immediately, and the average wage for US citizens is $10.25/hour with an average of 34 hours per week. This means that approximately 8 million US jobs are dependent upon economic activity produced by illegal immigrant activities within the US.[20][21][22]

Taxes paid by illegal immigrants

IRS estimates that about 6 million unauthorized immigrants file individual income tax returns each year.[10] Research reviewed by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office indicates that between 50 percent and 75 percent of unauthorized immigrants pay federal, state, and local taxes.[10] Illegal immigrants are estimated to pay in about $7 billion per year into Social Security.[23] In addition, they spend millions of dollars per year, which supports the US economy and helps to create new jobs. The Texas State Comptroller reported in 2006 that the 1.4 million illegal immigrants in Texas added almost $18 billion to the state's budget, and paid $1.2 billion in state services they used.[24]

The Social Security and Medicare contributions of illegal immigrants directly support older Americans, as illegal immigrants are not eligible to receive these services, although their children born in the United States are eligible for such benefits.[25]

Social Security subsidization

Illegal immigrants pay social security payroll taxes but are not eligible for benefits. During 2006, Standard & Poor's analysts wrote: "Each year, for example, the U.S. Social Security Administration maintains roughly $6 billion to $7 billion of Social Security contributions in an "earnings suspense file"—an account for W-2 tax forms that cannot be matched to the correct Social Security number. The vast majority of these numbers are attributable to illegal workers who will never claim their benefits. For 2010, the Social Security Administration estimated that illegal immigrants and their employers paid $13 billion in required social security payroll taxes.[26]

Price levels

NPR reported in March 2006 that when the wages of lower-skilled workers go down, the rest of America benefits by paying lower prices for things like restaurant meals, agricultural produce and construction. The economic impact of illegal immigration is far smaller than other trends in the economy, such as the increasing use of automation in manufacturing or the growth in global trade. But economists generally believe that when averaged over the whole economy, the effect is a small net positive. Harvard's George Borjas says the average American's wealth is increased by less than 1 percent because of illegal immigration.

**********************

That being said I'm in favor of stopping illegal immigration, but the problem I have is more about a racist president that is not held in very high regard with his own countryman, let alone the rest of the civilized world. Do you think Norway and it's citizen appreciates be singled out by Trump as a country in would favor immigration from?

Trump is unbelievably irresponsible in the things he says. He doesn't think to think before he speaks and then has to try and do damage control later.

It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Hey @yvangelfan, don't even bother arguing with socialist libs like @mtangelsfan. Guys like him are so far gone that there's no point.

He lives in the frozen wasteland of northeastern Montana. Of course San Diego looks like paradise.

Every morning he has to find his car and he parks it in the same place every day.
