There were 100 other republican candidates.   All this garbage with Trump was evident during the campaign.  The racism, the incredible ineptitude, the sexual assault shit, the flirting with far right nationalist elements, the contempt for being truthful.  Conservatives still overwhelmingly voted for Donald Trump.  At what point are you going to start wondering whether that stuff was exactly why they voted for Trump ?

The economic uncertainty stuff is also bullshit.  No one offered more uncertainty then Trump.  They liked his nationalism stuff.  They liked his grievance stuff and unfortunately a lot of them liked the racist stuff.  The republicans have rigged the voting system with their gerrymandering.  All over the country the scales are ridiculously tilted in their favor.  The democrats could have run the reincarnation of John F Kennedy and he would have lost.   The end.

Trump isn't an aberration...he is what the Republican party has become. Sharon Angle, the witch chick in Connecticut, Palin, Gohmert, Pruitt, Rohrabacher, Brat, Paul, Cruz, Perry. the "tea party" caucus, state legislatures banning Sharia law...the next likely Senator (and charity grifter extraordinaire) from Alabama, Roy Moore. Trump knows how to play the media game better than most, if not all...but at it's core Trump is what the Republican party has come, not vice versa. Bannon is going around the country recruiting more mini Trumps. This has been going on for decades, even before multiple time philanderer Newt Gingrich pushed to impeach Bill Clinton for getting a blow job.

There is a lot to dislike about the Democratic Party, it certainly is far from perfect. The Democrats need to take a long hard look at what they stand for and learn how to message that...but if you can realistically look at what the Republicans have become and say there is no difference between the two parties...you are part of the problem. 

If you had one kid who accidently wet his bed, and another who repeatedly took heaping shits on the living room table...does it really solve the problem to shake your head and say...well, the other kid did wet his bed...so I guess they are both at fault and there's nothing I can do. No...you'd beat the shit out of the serial shitter. The Republicans continue to do this, because they aren't punished, in fact they've been rewarded with the presidency, house, and senate and a growing number of state legislatures.
