So...it looks like Trump was indeed being monitored. The House Intelligence Committee chair briefed him on it.

Holy shit...this dude is certainly a clown. Within a day of holding two press conferences, and running to tattle to the president*...Nunes can't actually confirm...well anything. And this is the dude (who was part of Trump's transition team) who is supposedly leading an independent investigation of this whole shit show.

The office of Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) now concedes that the House Intelligence Committee chair is not sure that the intelligence community ever incidentally collected communications from President Donald Trump or members of his transition team.

"He said he'll have to get all the documents he requested from the [intelligence community] about this before he knows for sure," a Nunes spokesperson told ABC News on Thursday.

This lack of certainty did not stop Nunes from holding two press conferences Wednesday and briefing the White House on the “dozens” of intelligence community reports he said showed U.S. intelligence agencies “incidentally collected information about U.S. citizens involved in the Trump transition," independent of the FBI's investigation into ties between Trump associates and Russian officials.

Yep. Trump is totally going to get busted and lose office...

Yet somehow they were able to come up with something better, and in 7 fewer years of crafting. It's astounding.

Deficit spending is astounding for a program that was to pay for itself. The ACA was never going to work, it was a Ponzi scheme.

Nunes is the head of the committee investigating this stuff...it's not his job to "make the president feel better", it's not his job to run to the press...especially if he doesn't know the whole situation. His job is to provide oversight, his job is to determine what is and isn't real.

The situation, as you outlined it, would actually make Nunes look worse.

Apparently his spokesperson did a fantastic impression, costume and all, of Nunes this morning

The chairman of the House intelligence committee has backed down from his dramatic assertion that Donald Trump and his aides were "monitored," by U.S. spies — a claim the Republicans have cited this week in fundraising emails.

Rep. Devin Nunes told reporters Friday he can't be sure whether conversations among Trump or his aides were captured in the surveillance that has become a source of controversy since Nunes made it public in two news conferences this week.

"He said he'll have to get all the documents he requested from the (intelligence community) about this before he knows for sure," his spokesman, Jack Langer, said earlier.

Nunes continued to refuse to say how he had learned about the surveillance, including whether his source was in the White House...

And for shits and giggles...

As for Trump's assertion that Obama wiretapped him, Nunes repeated Friday what he has said previously, telling reporters, "That didn't happen."

Nunes stated today that the two primary issues are the unmasking of names and the actual content of the reports.

Pretty vague stuff, i'll admit I don't know a lot about how this surveillance is supposed to work (does anyone?). But I think unmasking of US names is supposed to have a pretty good reason, and i'm guessing the names he saw were Trump people. Combined with the content of the reports, maybe it looks like they're being monitored for political gain, but can't say for sure without seeing more?
