Didn't some of you say recently that the GOP is not the party of Trump anymore?

Quote

Polls taken over the course of the year have shown that Mr. Trump remains the overwhelming favorite for Republican voters, suggesting that he would be difficult to beat in a primary if he did indeed run. Though his popularity suffered somewhat in the immediate aftermath of Jan. 6, most Republicans seem to have moved on. A Pew Research Center poll released Wednesday found that two-thirds of Republicans say Mr. Trump should continue to be a major national figure, an increase of 10 percentage points from January. Forty-four percent of Republicans or Republican-leaning voters want him to run again.

The Pew poll also found little tolerance for dissent. Asked whether their party should accept politicians who openly criticize Mr. Trump, 63 percent said no.

Trump is the favorite of GOP voters. The establishment hates him. If they liked trump he would still be in office.

If he didn't act like an asshole while in office he'd still be in office. He needed to be an asshole to get in office. Once there, he needed to dial it down to stay. He couldn't or wouldn't. He lost. It was a bad decision if the goal was to have a second term. Oh well.

Possibly but he received more votes than 2016. Fraud or no fraud the mass  mail in ballots were too much to overcome.

Right, but being such an asshole made it so his opponent was able to receive even more votes than that.

He should have won walking away, but he is who he is and while that won him the presidency in 2016, it lost him the presidency in 2020.

Just a bit of humility and non-assholishness would have won 2020 for him.

Karens and cucks just couldn’t handle his mean tweets. Now we have a President who can’t even tell you what day it is.

Yep. You're absolutely right,

It was an unbelievable failure of his to not recognize that his mean tweets would end up driving Karens and cucks to the polls to vote him out in 2020 like they drove dumbshits and situational libertarians to the polls in 2016 to vote him in.

All he had to do was be halfway decent to not drive as many people as possible to vote against him. He still had the dumbshits and notreads in 2020 no matter what.

What a stupid tactical mistake.

lol, he lost to sleepy Joe.

You know what else was too much to overcome? The amount of votes his opponent received.

If you change the last sentence to crack whore, this post will sound like norm Macdonald is speaking it.

I'd legitimately like to hear some of the more reasonable Republican voters' thoughts on this (those who don't love Trump).

That’s kind of a strange poll but Trump has some hard core fans. I don’t understand how anyone can be a “fan” of an elected official. Either you like their policies or you don’t. As far as Trump goes, it’s time to move on. He’s getting to old anyways. It would be stupid for the GOP to put him out there again in 2024.

Does it bother you then that 62% of Republican voters think we shouldn't be accepting of Republican politicians who dare to criticize Trump?

Jason, it has nothing to do with policies or even politics.  It's a flat out cult.
