There are different levels of Republicans around the country.  Arizona Republicans are maybe the most retarded of the bunch.

They are all becoming increasingly more retarded by the day. When I gave up my R-card a few years ago, I did so because I felt the party ideology had moved so far away from where I had always known it to be. But now, I realize I left the party because it is a race to the bottom of stupidity (among other things). There just isn’t a place in the party for people whose brains function at more than 40 percent.

Do you think the R party has moved further left?

Some people genuinely believe this and I wanted to know your thoughts.

I don’t know about moving left but they are only concerned about maintaining power as opposed to holding conservative values such as limiting government. I know they talk big about debt but then go silent when they continue to spend when they have the power.

I don't think they have really moved too much to the left (for the most part they seem not to care as much about fighting the LGBTQ issues as much and seem a lot more accepting than they use to so that is an example). But their supposed beliefs are pretty much the same, whether they practice what they preach.

But I think Jason pretty much said it all. They can bash Biden and the rest of the democrats for spending but they have no control of themselves when it comes to their spending. In fact I think theirs has greater ramifications. They like to cut taxes which is fine by me but they don't cut spending which of course results in bigger deficits. Trump and the republicans had control of everything from 2017 to 2019 and the deficits didn't get any smaller. So which is worse, tax and spend or borrow and spend?

My issue with them is that they are just as hypocritical as the dems. When you embrace Trump (a known conman who had to pay back $25 million dollars for scamming people with Trump U) but then bitch about the Clinton foundation, there really isn't any moral ground to stand on. When you get pissy about someone kneeling during the anthem but look the other way as Trump disparages POWs, who cares? Scream about socialism but then have Trump bail out corporate farmers with billions because his tariffs wrecked havoc on them, you shouldn't be taken seriously.

I'm okay if you liked some of his policies (like border security) but at the same time called him out for stuff that the left is guilty of. The conservatives on this board have shown they can call him out. But I think overall, his biggest supporters have as much cognitive dissonance as those on the left. And there is no getting through to them.  If you vote with Trump 90% of the time, that still isn't good enough. That right there proves it is a cult. Believe me, living in Utah, I know what one looks like and how it operates.

Relative to the left the right wing has maintained its distance but the overton window continues to shift. The left continues to win the culture war. In politics the left are pussies and cave all the time, but in the culture the roles are reversed.

Thank you for answering. I value your opinion because you call out the bullshit from the right, which to...some people makes them question your status as a "republican".

Jason (that's Jason, right?) had a good point.

Whether you like Trump or not, he divided this country more than any president ever. That's a fact. Liberals and conservatives are so far apart that there’s rarely, if ever, any good discourse between them. I'm guilty of that.

Fucking hell, I've had at least 5 friends on FB block me because I'm liberal, despite the fact I don't ever post anything political (though I will comment). This includes the owner of this website. It's absurd.

A lot of us suck at arguing but I'm absolutely willing to call myself out on it. I get too invested and then I get angry and then start insulting people. Not how to handle it, at all. It's lame and childish.

I can handle arguments in real life just fine. But being behind a computer screen I can just go balls out and act like a dick to someone I disagree with.

Trump returns! Former president will hold his first three rallies since Jan 6 as he seeks to capitalize on crises engulfing Biden and lay down a marker for 2024

  • Trump aides have four options for June rallies and will choose two in coming days
  • It will be followed by an event on or around July 3
  • With multiple crises engulfing President Biden, Trump team believes time to right to return to campaigning
  • Events are most likely to be held at airports, repeating the outdoor rallies developed last year
  • Former president relocated from Mar-a-Lago, Florida, to his Bedminster golf club in New Jersey at the start of the week

He was supposed to be in jail. Guess there wasn't actually anything to go off of and the libs have been spouting bullshit.

Regardless, yeah, that's sad. And what's worse is thousands of cultists oops I mean people will attend these rallies. Maybe he will actually get indicted on something and pull a Trumpstown.
