How do you all stand on the hand washing thing? I feel like if anything good came from this it would be that people start washing their damn nasty ass hands more often

I was in Vegas.  That has passed.  It's back to the same levels it was prepandemic in washing vs not washing.

Misinformation!

There would be doubt except that the infection trajectories are exactly the same over months of data. Neither spike independently which would point to one acting any differently than the other.

It’s most likely that those getting the booster are already at higher risk.  Or as Taylor mentioned, boosted people take less precautions?  I don’t know.  I don’t really care much anymore.  I just come to this thread to see Larry act like he’s a tough guy after we all saw him shit his pants.

"During this Omicron wave, we're seeing an increased number of mild infections — at-home type of infections, the inconvenient, having a cold, being off work, not great but not the end of the world. And that's because these Omicron variants are able to break through antibody protection and cause these mild infections," John Moore, a professor of microbiology and immunology at Weill Cornell Medical College, told CBS News.

"So, one of the dynamics here is that people feel, after vaccination and boosting, that they're more protected than they actually are, so they increase their risks," he said. "That, I think, is the major driver of these statistics."

That could be because there is a "higher prevalence of previous infection" right now among those who are unvaccinated and unboosted, the CDC said. More boosted Americans may now have abandoned "prevention behaviors" like wearing masks, leading to an uptick.

Some boosted Americans might be more likely to seek out a lab test for COVID-19, as opposed to relying on over-the-counter rapid tests that go largely unreported to health authorities.

I'm fully vaccinated and boosted.  As things started to "settle down" - I started taking less precautions.  Prior to this, I took extra precautions because my wife and I are caregivers to her mom, who needs lots of help.  We rarely, if ever went anywhere and when we did, we wore a mask and tried to be as safe as possible.  Mostly to protect my mother-in-law.

We had just started to do a little bit more recently and went to a couple Angels games.  It was a treat for us because again, we hardly ever go out because of our obligations to my wife's mom and the lack of willingness of anyone else in the family to take care of her.

Well, we went to a game with some friends on a Tuesday.  Their adult daughter had just returned from a trip overseas the previous Sunday.  She sat next to my wife during the game. Wednesday morning, I get a text from my friend that their daughter tested positive for Covid.

We were a little freaked out.  If one or both of us got sick, we didn't know who would take care of my wife's mom.  And we certainly didn't want my mother-in-law to get Covid.  It was an anxious time for sure.

Fortunately, we never caught Covid.  We tested, we quarantined, etc.  We felt like we dodged a bullet.  I don't know if it was just luck or if being vaccinated, etc. helped us in this case.

I'm back to being cautious.  I don't give a rip if anyone thinks that silly or dumb or whatever.  I'm doing what I think is right for my family.

We have members within our own extended family who aren't vaccinated and when they've been sick, don't even bother to get tested.  I think they're selfish.

My point in all of this is if you don't want to get vaccinated, that's your choice.  But your choices can have consequences for others.  It's like the commercial a few years back about a guy who said his wife nagged him about smoking.  He told her "it's my life."  When she died from his second-hand smoke, he said... "SHE was my life."  He realized that too late.

The thing I don't get about those who choose not to get vaccinated is they can be so belligerent about it and attack those who choose to be vaccinated, wear masks, etc.  The bravado BS is stupid too.  I'll stop my rant now.

Well my wife has it. Wasn’t all that sick and yes I’m still covid negative. She cooks , makes my coffee ,and sleeps right beside me. Now I haven’t stuck the pecker in her this week but that will change tonight. Ironically just noticed my third hernia but covid can’t seem to break through like my intestines do

That commercial about second hand smoke was false.
Half pint just said the vaccine isn’t stopping infections.

The unvaccinated were targeted 100 times more than the vaccinated.

Live the speculation of others with an agenda without any data. That's the best way to make decisions.

I just found it cool that a speculation I pulled from my ass was also speculated by some infectious disease expert. I felt very validated.

Double vaxxed.

Double boosted.

Single (post-vax & post-boosted) infection.

Whatever happens to me, happens.  I could died from Covid, become a victim of a mass shooting, get hit by a murderous drunk driver or be killed by a blow to the back of my head with a banjo.  Life is short.  Live it.

J and J.  and a single Moderna kicker.

Haven't changed my behavior much.  Only wore masks when mandated.  Went to casinos both in Calolfornia and Nevada when Calolfornia was closed.  Nevada casinos, went the week before they did a temp shutdown, and went a week after they reopened.  (although after they reopened, they required masks and temp checks)  Went to Indian restaurants in Casinos when Calolfornia closed all theirs.  Hike all the time maskless when Calolfornia required them everywhere.  Went to movies at theaters when it reopened, and still going to them.

No cooties yet.  Will keep trying though.  Have a camping trip coming up, probably a trip to the fair, and a convention.

I’m going to laugh if you’re the first one here to get monkey pox
