Angels acquire Noah Syndergaard, Zach Wheeler, and Seth Lugo
Mets acquire Jo Adell, Andrelton Simmons, Jaime Barria, and Jeremiah Jackson

The Angels get a ton of pitching help - and don't have to pin all their hopes onto one arm. 
Syndergaard is controlled for '19, '20, and '21. Lugo, a strikeout-heavy, multi-inning specialist who could theoretically jump back to the rotation, is controlled a year further, through '22.
The 2019 rotation becomes: Syndergaard, Heaney, Wheeler, Canning, and Pena, with Suarez as depth. Lugo joins Robles, Bedrosian, Buttrey, Anderson, Noe, and ideally eventually Middleton for a lock-down pen.
Rengifo assumes the SS of the future mantle, with Fletcher at 2B. Thaiss, Ward, and maybe Rojas hold down 3B until La Stella returns. 
At year's end, the Angels can now pick up Kole's option, hoping Marsh becomes MLB-ready by 2020, or decline it free up another $14m on top Simmons' now freed up $13m, of the money already clearing from our current FAs.
They can attempt to re-sign Wheeler, or turn that money towards Gerrit Cole or other arms, or, if content with their internal/cheap options, go heavy at Rendon for 3B instead. 

Option 1: Pitching-first: Let Wheeler walk, sign Gerrit Cole, pick up Calhoun's option, rely on the kids up the middle

• Rotation: G. Cole, Ohtani, Syndergaard, Heaney, Canning, with Suarez, Pena as depth
• Bullpen: Buttrey, Robles, Bedrosian, Lugo, Anderson, Noe, Middleton, T. Cole
• Line-up: Fletcher 2B, Trout CF, Ohtani DH, Upton LF, Calhoun RF, Pujols 1B, La Stella 3B, Smith C, Rengifo SS

Option 2: More offense: Let Wheeler walk, sign Anthony Rendon to pump the offense up further, pick-up Calhoun's option (or decline and sign a $12m vet SP), and rely on the kids for pitching

• Rotation: Syndergaard, Ohtani, Heaney, Canning, Suarez with Pena as depth
• Bullpen: Buttrey, Robles, Bedrosian, Lugo, Anderson, Noe, Middleton, T. Cole
• Line-up: Rengifo/Fletcher SS, Rendon 3B, Trout CF, Ohtani DH, Upton LF, Calhoun RF, Pujols 1B, La Stella 2B, Smith C

Option 3: In-Between: Re-sign Wheeler, sign Yasmani Grandal for catcher (or let Calhoun walk and sign Marcell Ozuna or sign another $12m vet SP), and use remaining mil for bench/pen/rotation insurance. No marquee FA, but more flexibility.

• Rotation: Syndergaard, Ohtani, Wheeler, Heaney, Canning with Suarez, Pena as depth
• Bullpen: Buttrey, Robles, Bedrosian, Lugo, Anderson, Noe, Middleton, T. Cole
• Line-up: La Stella 3B, Trout CF, Ohtani DH, Upton LF, Grandal C, Pujols 1B, Calhoun RF, Fletcher 2B, Rengifo SS

The Mets? They get what they want for Thor - a Top 30 prospect and 'a couple solid pieces' in Simmons and Barria.
They drop Jo Adell into CF between Michael Conforto and Jeff McNeil, with Brandon Nimmo as trade bait/4th OF/pre-Adell coverage. 
Barria shores up the back of the Mets rotation, giving them a cheap #5 behind deGrom, Stroman, Matz, and Vargas.
The Mets, known for having one of the worst infield defenses in baseball, get Simmons to shore things up behind Stroman, and becomes an extension candidate.
He bumps SS Amed Rosario either over to 3B, replacing Frazier, or 2B, bumping Cano to the soon-to-exist 26th bench elder role (see Pujols, Albert). 
Jackson is the high-upside lotto-ticket prospect needed to cover the ground in value to allow the Angels to obtain Lugo.
