  1. 1. Will you watch the ASG?

    • Yes, I'll watch all or most of it.
    • I'll tune in for an inning or two, until Trout gets taken out.
    • Nope, I won't watch any of it.

I'll tune in to watch Mike Trout.  If the game becomes interesting, I'll continue to watch - but most likely, I'll just head out to dinner after they take Trout out.

And we wonder why the ASG is considered to be a popularity contest.

I don't think of it that way.  The games don't matter.  It's a show case.  It's an exhibition. It's entertainment and it's only entertaining if there is a reason to watch.  That reason for me is Mike Trout.  It's not a can't-miss event for me.

I don't know about you guys but I'll be tuning in just to watch the hyper-deserving Daniel Vogelbach hit some dingers.

There were 6 replacements on the AL team.

3 were from NY/Boston

Who got left off that was more deserving?  A quick glance and you can probably make a case for Ken Giles over Tanaka, but then you're replacing a starter with a reliever.

According to Fangraphs:

Gleyber Torres - 4th in MLB in WAR among 2B.  Top 3 made it.

Xander Boegarts - 2nd in MLB in WAR among SS.  1st if you exclude Bregman.

I'll usually watch Trout's first AB. Then either leave the TV on mute and do something until Trout's next AB or do something else completely. The All-Star game is usually boring as ****.

Exactly.

You can always nitpick at the end, but so many make it, I don't even notice people talking about snubs anymore.  Long gone are the days when one backup spot was available because of someone like Cal Ripken getting voted in every year.
