I feel less homeless drinking this one

Last time I drank southern I woke up to dad kicking in my door. I was late for the 3am shift at ups. Not sure if he saw the girl under the covers and her panties hanging off the lamp shade. I thought I had left the phone off the hook but I pulled the whole cord out the wall so the phone still rang downstairs. The good old days

Both social media companies have admitted to erring in their actions pertaining to the article.

This is why big tech believing they are the ones to determine what is true or not is the biggest threat to free speech. They need to stop doing it

They’re private companies and can do what they want.  Conservatives should make their own social media platforms.

It’s a bit more nuanced than that. In 2022, tech companies like this is how most human beings communicate and receive information.

So? People choose to use their products.  They aren’t being forced.  These companies can do whatever they want that’s legal.

Just because it’s legal doesn’t make it right. Suppression of speech and ideas like the original NY Post story is un American at its core. Knowing it was suppressed for political reasons just makes it worse.

Do you even understand how Pravda-ish Fox News is?  The number one source for information for conservatives in this country is a cesspool of disinformation and suppression of facts.  And you want to bitch about Facebook, which is basically a site for teenage girls?

I’m talking about all of them. In my opinion, it is not in our best interests for them to determine what is true or not. Like i said, just my opinion and I may be alone on this.

If guys like @St1ck and @RallyMo and @tdawg87 can figure out how to navigate the politics and restrictions on free speech on this site (which means slightly right of OAN) then you dipshits can deal with the occasional Branco cartoon getting blocked or Larry’s Q theory of the day being labeled misinformation.  Stop being such a fucking whiny pansy.

You guys are only getting censored for pointing out Blarg’s weight problems. All the other stupid shit we say seems to be all good though

He's just being contrarian.  He knows your point is valid but figures he seems cooler if he disagrees and calls you names.

They also have a responsibility to not just let anything get posted all willy nilly. The term "fake news" started because dudes in Russian were writing actual fake articles and posting them online. They would even have legitimate looking web addresses like abcnews.co.

I agree that it isn't that easy to do but these are some of the smartest people on the planet.  They need to remove as much subjectiveness from it as possible.

I agree with this. There are obvious things that shouldn’t be allowed anywhere. Threats, child porn, human trafficking and other illegal activities. In this case we are talking about a legit news story that was suppressed and ignored because he could have a damaging impact on a political candidate they supported. That feels very wrong to me coming from companies with the power and influence they have

Wasn't the source Giuliani? That guy should have to walk around with a disclaimer sign dangling from his neck.

To be honest, you could make that argument in regards to anyone that is involved like that in politics. Just write stories with current information, don’t put spin on it and just let people make up their own minds. There is distrust of the media and it’s completely warranted.

So we agree. Facebook has a right to put up a disclaimer.

It’s obvious they did so without knowing what the truth really was. The truth shouldn’t have a disclaimer. I was referring to mainstream news outlets in handling the story. Facebook doesn’t create content or claim to be journalists so I don’t know why they think they know what’s true or not. I’m not saying that Facebook should be regulated as such, I just think they should stop with this type of censorship on their own accord. As Americans it should be concerning to all of us that gigantic platforms like this are doing it.

We're so far gone at this point that more people believe the actual truth to be "fake".
