I kinda get the sense the Angels are willing to spend a little more than we were expecting - provided it's on short-term deals. Cutting Parker and Shoemaker was an indication of that.
Either Arte is fine spending a little more than projected, they have inside knowledge about Albert's future, or Eppler feels comfortable dumping some of this salary midseason - Harvey, Cahill, Calhoun all could find themselves on the move, as well as anyone else they may sign to a 1-2 year deal.

That is a good/fair question.  Would you rather have Robertson and Briceno or Bullpen as it is and a guy like Grandall?

IF thats the choice, i go with the catcher  and roll with the pen as is.  The pen can be good without Robertson, the offense cannot without some upgrades.
I still dont understand why that has to be a choice but if i must choose, offense is the greater need at this moment

Dude, every single person knows you don’t get why it has to be a choice.  Bringing it up in every discussion isn’t helping.

Eppler isn’t big on paying a premium for relievers but at some point the price may become too good pass up. Maybe if he’ll take 2/12 or something.

If they can get Robertson for 2/12, do they still try to sign a catcher or make a trade?

I don't see it happening. I think it's just Robertson trying to get a bigger deal in the Northeast.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Eppler's team seems to not leak anything until a deal is done. I don't recall anyone the Angels were rumored to be interested in actually ending up on the team. The big deal seemingly came out of nowhere, ie Simmons, Upton, Cozart, and Kinsler.

If Eppler's not leaking it, then it's Robertson leaking it. Nothing wrong with it, but I think it means he doesn't really want to be here and just wants a decent offer somewhere else. He'll get one.

Yea, this is totally possible, but if Eppler offers him the closing role and a competitive offer it could be enough.  These reports are not always accurate, but if he indeed wants to close, which North East team that expects to be good, has an opening at closer?  Cleveland seems to be cutting payroll.  The Phillies might out bid us and they probably have an opening at closer.

Weren’t the Phils eyeing Britton and Miller?

Going with our current M-O, why not offer him a one year deal at a healthy price? This will allow him to reestablish himself as a closer (in pitcher friendly AL West parks vs. AL East bandboxes) , and raise his bar as far as salary expectations go.

Will also allow us to see what we've got with Anderson and the young guys, and allow Middleton a year to recoup.

Silly me i thought we could still post whatever we wanted on this forum.    I guess i missed the "Stradling approved" memo

I missed the part where we were supposed to repeat ourselves in every thread because someone might have missed it.

It would be surprising if Robertson doesn't get a two year deal somewhere....maybe he is holding out for 3 years.....
