Padres DFAed Carlos Asuaje to make room for Richards. He’s basically Tommy La Stella without any MLB success yet, but was once a fairly touted prospect and could offer some infield depth.

Ohtani is setting a new expectation.  All new Angel players should be able to pitch and do something else.

He has an option still, so he can play at SLC, should Rengifo, Ward, or Fletcher come up in trade talks.

AAA slash of .303/.377/.447/.824 in 243 G, 1073 PA. 105 walks to 141 strikeouts. Primarily 2B/3B, but a few games here and there at LF and 1B.

Eppler tends to keep things quiet. We didn’t even know the Angels were in on Ohtani or had met with him until late. No noise doesn’t really mean much, IMO.

Although to be honest, the Angels do kinda operate like the hand up Mona Lisa's skirt and tend to surprise when it doesn't seem like we're in the game.
