Also, it had healed as much as it was going to heal naturally. Sitting out till February wasn’t going to make it any stronger. 

Finally, the worst scenario is waiting till February and then tearing it. Then you lose a season of him hitting and 2 seasons of him pitching. 

Just FYI, several of us have said variations on the same thing multiple times and it fell on deaf ears. But thanks for trying.

It is his call.  They are going to talk to him on Monday when they are back home and see what he would like to do.

Except that I heard it takes about 6 months to be able to hit, after TJS.   If he waits until early October to get it, he may miss the first 3-4 weeks of the 2019 season, factoring in time to wear off the rust.   Which is more important, the next 3 weeks or the first 3 weeks of a new season?

Halos fans can only hope it's a similar recovery hitting wise for Ohtani.     He could be a top 10 AL MVP candidate as a DH in 2019, if DH'ing at least 140-150 games and tweaking his struggles vs LHPs.
