plenty of DFA options out there Marte, Cowart, etc.

but we send JMF down...

He wasn't DFA'd or removed from the 40 man. He still has options and Cowart can play 6 or 7 positions, well. Marte would have had to have been DFA'd which is what I was hoping for. Don't expect to see him next season though.

The Angels need to decide whether to keep Marte, and/or Cowart next season as both are out of options. They either need to DFA them are keep them on 25 man roster next year. I think this is Cowart last chance to remain an Angel, either perform or move on to other pastures. Pretty sure Marte is gone next season.

He is getting plenty of hitting support in Chicago.   3.72 ERA in the NL is like having a 4.00+ ERA in the AL.   It would be nice to have, but he's not an ultimate rotation regular solution, given his past.

He is on the Brewers, but still doing better than Gray, Wheeler, Lester, Darvish, and not too far behind Wood, and Newcomb..

Jhoulys Chacin is doing quite well since leaving the Angels. 12-4, with 3.72 ERA

He shut out the Cubs 7-0 over 7.1 innings. Funny how players seem to flourish once they shake Angel Stadium dirt off their uniforms.

I just asked my good friend Erick Aybar about this. Here was his response:

"I agree"

Who?  Besides Jhoulys, who was fine here, who flourished after leaving?

I don’t think players being bad and then being good once they leave is a real thing for the Angels just to be clear.  Not abnormally anyway.  I just wouldn’t want to miss an opportunity to insert Joe Blanton into any AW conversation.

Never said they had to be bad before leaving just after they left the had some success.

Anyway time to move on. I just thought Chacin was having a good year.

Napoli hit .320/.414/.631/1.046 - 30 HR the year after he left the Angels.
Mark Trumbo hit 47 HR in 2016
Lackey, Colon, Newcomb, Segura...

Ok, Napoli was good here.  Trumbo’s best 3 years of WAR were in Anaheim.  Was Lackey better after he left the Angels, no his best years were as an Angel.  Colon left the Angels,  pitched in less than 20 games over the course of two seasons, then took two seasons off, got popped for PEDs.  Oh and he won the Cy Young here, so no he didn’t “flourish” after leaving here.  Segura and Newcomb, ok, we traded them as prospects and they flourished into major league all star caliber players.
