It does get hot there, but only for a month or two, and not like the 4 months of hot weather in SoCal.   They also have a solid change of seasons, including solid rainfall and not too much snow.

 

Eugene is getting Californiafied like crazy. Check out Corvallis if you want to stay ahead of the wave.

Thanks, there's still college athletics entertainment there, Portland is closer to it than to Eugene, and the weather is the same as Eugene albeit maybe a little cooler in the summertime.

The football and basketball kinda suck, but perennial contender in baseball. And yes, being 40 minutes closer to Portland airport takes some of the sting out of that drive, and probably still a better option than Eugene airport.

Maybe fewer food and retail options? Dunno really, but Oregon is not diverse and so the smaller the town, the more bland and carb-heavy the food options.

Thanks, that's why it's good that Portland isn't too far away from Corvallis.    Portland does have some nice restaurants.  

Football was good a couple of times, when Tommy Prothro was there in the early 60s and when Dennis Erickson was there in the early 2000s.    Both led their team to a major bowl one each (Rose Bowl for Prothro and Fiesta Bowl for Erickson).   Erickson just missed (by a missed FG against U-Dub) leading them to the nat'l title game after the 2000 season.    

Basketball was real good long ago, when Ralph Miller was there.   Since then, not so very much

Baseball is self-explanatory since the 2000s, with multiple CWS titles.

And lastly, I'm a four seasons weather kind of guy.    Corvallis certainly has that.

I took a call earlier this week, then 2 more times (we got a few calls in different places) of a guy trying to buy a shotgun with an expired DL.

I swear this guy was related to the guy that started this fire. Batshit crazy....which is scary as hell.

No one would sell him a gun, thankfully. But who knows how long that lasts...

We wrote it up and forwarded it...hopefully that does something.

The valley can't deal with snow, which is relatively rare (once or twice a winter). But when it hits, man, everything grinds to a halt. They don't salt the roads, and there's no real plowing. In Portland, people end up sleeping in their cars stuck on the freeway.
