But he wasn't the best option available there.

Richards is better, and was saved to pitch two innings once it was a blowout.

It's befuddling why Enright was getting starts instead of Richards in the first place, really.

Out in that pen? Laugh...they must be hiding the good relievers somewhere else. As if tossing another scrub like Coelle out there at that point would have made a huge difference. The Angels pen is atrocious.

I agree that the pen sucks.

The idea that there is no one better to use there than Mark Lowe is laughable though.

With the state of the pen Richards is considered one of the back end of the bullpen guys...they aren't going to toss him out there at that point in the game. Maybe a guy like De La Rosa.

 

Bottom line is the pitching staff is in shambles...at this point tossing anyone out there not named Frieri seems to be like doubling down on 16.

Undoubtedly, Lowe has lost it.  He simply isn't the same guy I saw in Seattle and traded to Texas.  That guys threw 96+ with movement, was around the strike zone and attacked hitting.  This 93-94 mph guy isn't cutting it.

Why Lowe is still with the team is a indication of how desperate the Angels are for warm bodies.  Why Scioscia still has him pitching (semi)meaningful innings is anyone's guess.

Why not START with Richards, then bring Roth in in a "tag team" start like what Houston was doing recently. Then, go to good reliever if the game is still within reach (DeLa Rosa, Kohn, Downs etc) and only bring in Enright in as a mop up guy.

Exactly. .  although the sooner we get a couple guys healthy the sooner Enright gets to Little Rock or where ever- he does not belong pitching in the major leagues in any way shape or form.

Becasue the front office cant think for themselves. They see any former Ranger and think "hey we need to get them becasue they must be good because he played for the Rangers". So now we have Wilson, Hamilton and Lowe..........good times
