Evidently you're not looking beyond ERA. That's what @Inside Pitch meant (I think) by "smoke and mirrors." The guy has weak peripherals. He's a classic case of why FIP is a useful stat; last year his was 4.84, which is probably around what his ERA would be if he's given a regular gig.

Yes, really.   He will likely get more chances because history has shown that there are some guys that defy repeatedly defy their predictive data but, he had never done it in the minors and unless he altered what he was doing when he got to Anaheim it's unlikely he would continue to do so.

2. Ohtani

I honestly think a GM would take a 23yr Ohtani with this potential over Harper/Kershaw/Altuve/Judge

We potentially have the two most valuable players in the league.
