The Minnesota Twins are employing an unusual shift tonight (possibly last night, too) against Khris Davis of Oakland. They have four outfielders in the outfield. No, not an infielder playing in short left. They have guys in L, LC, RC, and R, somewhat like a softball game. All are approx the same depth. I dont think I can ever recall seeing that.

Tampa Bay beats Boston for the second straight night. Seven straight for the Rays. Now a season-high eight games over .500. Good, young club. No real stars.

Usually being eight games over .500 puts you in the thick of the WC. Not this year. They're 8.5 back of the A's.

First time I've seen Blake Snell pitch for the Rays. I take it back, the Rays do have a star. Very impressive. Shutting down the Sox. 6-0 Tampa Bay. Just overpowering. 

If the score holds and the Yankees win tonight against the hapless Orioles, the Yankees will be only six back. Boston hasn't won this yet.

Andujar has the number of at bats.   But Ohtani has the better numbers per at bat and the excellent pitching (albeit in just 50 innings) to go with it.

Wondering if 4-5 solid September starts totaling about 20 innings, plus a real good September at the plate, could put him over the top

Yep. I think if Ohtani has a few dominating starts in September, it will make him the front-runner again.
