Jared Walsh continues to tear it up in AA.   Over 40 games, he has a .978 OPS including 13 doubles and 8 HRs.   Combined between A and AA: 21 doubles, 1 triple, 21 HRs

His pitch selection seems to have blossomed this season, with 45 BBs across A and AA levels in 294 at bats and a .378 OBP across those levels.

Is he getting closer to Thaiss in the 1B competition for 2019 and beyond?

And to think, a 39th round pick just 3 years ago out of UGA

Good organizations, yes. We're just used to shit. Now we've got a top 10ish farm system (imo).

If we had the pitching to match the hitting we'd be top 5. I'm just guessing, but I'd say we're about #5 for position players, but more like #20ish for pitchers.

Here's hoping that group of pitchers taken in rounds 3-13 producers some solid pitching prospects.

Jerryl Rivera has been awful so far:

17.18 ERA in 3 starts, 3.2 innings pitched total, 8 hits, 12 walks, and 0 strikeouts. 12 walks in 3.2 innings! I know it is a small sample size, but that isn't just bad - that's like if I pitched for Orem.

Cole Duensing has also taken up where he left off last year, in the "What if Chevy Clarke had been a pitcher?" hypothetical: 

11.30 ERA in 5 starts. 14.1 IP, 20 hits, 12-13 walks to Ks.

Comparing Walsh to Thaiss feels very similar to when everyone wanted to compare Marsh with Adell. They might play the same positions, but watching them enough times you definitely see the difference. It isn't to say Walsh is bad or anything, just that there's a reason Thaiss was a first round pick.

Maitan is a disaster.  18 errors in 22 games.  4bb/21k.  .635 ops.  I want to believe Scotty, but my faith is wavering.  He looked good early on.  What the hell happened?  Something might be wrong with him upstairs.

another rookie league hot mess is Jose M. Rodriguez.  0.1ip tonight with 4bb, 5er and 2h.  Giving him 16 walks in 5ip for the AZL.
