Legit or not legit...that is the question

At first I'm thinking...oh look...another Nigerian scam...but then I realized...hold on...IT'S PERSONALIZED...and it wasn't an email...but an actual honest to god personalized typed letter....and from Canada to boot! So it's gotta be real...woohooo...I always knew great uncle HYLTON would come through!

Dude...this is not a scam....they sent a letter...FROM CANADA!

reminds me of a thread i started here many years ago that was similar. i got a scam/spam email but instead of just deleting it, i posted it here and we all collectively came up with responses and there was full blown dialogue and you could tell the person on the other end thought they got one.

pretty hilarious responding with, "this sounds great! where do i start? i'm an oil man and was looking at other investing opportunities..."

i think it was dude abides or itp that came up with the oil man line. it was great.

The passage that convinces me that this is legitimate is "Since he is from the same country and you both share the same last name, it's easy for you to become his official next of kin."

Reminds me of an e-mail that I got a while back telling me that I needed to drop into a bank in Burkina Faso to claim my millions, because the bank staff had been instructed to "give it to the first foreigner who asks for it."
