Bruce Bochy won 3 World Series in 6 years and he didn't even get a 5 year extension.

And he got that job, and won those 3 WS because the Giants manager Duncety Baker was let go after losing to Mike Scioscia in the 2002 WS . They let him go after taking his team to the WS!!!

If you can't out-manage that guy..we don't want you any more..

They go on to basically dominate baseball for a decade. Hmmmm.

So...  Everyone knows that the talk about Girardi is that he follows the splits too closely right?  That he adhered to lefty/righty platoons too rigidly, that he goes straight by the numbers too much?   I know I said the same thing three times -- just trying to make sure it got through since people seem to not know who Girardi is other than the guy that managed in NY.  Also did everyone miss it when the reason given for his being let go was because he doesn't really connect with younger players and that the situation had created a bad clubhouse environment.

You guys are basically wanting to bring in a guy who actually does the things people accuse Mike Scioscia of doing.

Carry on.

For shit sake already, he’s been here for like 20 years and we have made the playoffs once in the past eight. Who else has got resigned making the playoffs once in the past eight years? No idea but it can’t be a big list.

can we include an honest evaluation of the talent pool when we make statements like this? we haven't missed the playoffs simply because of the manager.

So it looks like we missed out on Aaron Boone.

Not saying he’s the only reason, but when a team of any organization only makes the playoffs once in the past eight years, it’s very rare the head coach sticks around. Change is usually made. Regardless of if it’s his fault or not, Scisocia is very lucky to still be managing a team the way this team has performed the past 8 years because other managers would have been ousted a lot quicker.

If he was managing anywhere else with that type of budget he would’ve packed his bags a long time ago.

That's what makes it all more puzzling.  People here know this yet still stick up for him. Why? I want a manager that actually gets his team to the playoffs.  Apparently, winning is not important to fans of Scioscia.

Hell, years ago, my Penguins kept getting to the playoffs but losing in the first or second round and they fired their coach and brought in Sullivan who took them to back to back Stanley Cup victories.

I have no idea why Scioscia was given a 10 year contract and why anyone would stick up for him.
