Because there was more information besides the dossier, and because the funding doesn’t matter from a legal perspective, especially when you consider Steele has a very solid reputation amongst the intelligence agencies.

Pretty sure that we will find out, if the Dems memo is allowed to come out, that there was other evidence in the application that corroborated what the dossier said about Carter Page. 

It really shouldn't matter to the judge who funded the research as long as the information was obtained legally and is accurate

Agreed...I think it will reference some additional information utilized in the FISA process for Carter Page but I would seriously doubt it goes into anything else outside of reinforcing the point Nunes accidently made, the investigation of the campaign itself started before and was not solely dependent on the Carter Page FISA warrant.

There seems to be some Republican rumbling at this point that the Democrats specifically included classified information in the memo that Trump would be forced to redact so that in turn they could say Trump was trying to hide something damaging. Which in turn could just be them trying to provide coverage for Trump doing exactly that.

He's made it clear he's willing to release, spill, divulge, and borderline tweet classified information...so I would think if he's redacting large chunks of the memo it's because he is in fact trying to hide something.

Right. So if the Democrats put something for whatever reason particularly sensitive in the memo as a political dirty trick and Trump rubber stamps it, it could reflect bad on the Democrats for choosing to include such sensitive material. Just pointing out the risk of that strategy. Your theory of why the Republicans would say that is also reasonable, especially with the risk I point out.
