With expectations raised, would Scioscia survive a slow start, or should we expect Girardi before the All Star Break?

Let's be honest, is Girardi an upgrade?  If you are letting him go mid-season (which will not happen), give the reigns to either Josh Paul or Brad Ausmus, someone that is already in house.  Then determine whether or not they are the right fit going forward.  If not don't go after a Girardi, go after the next guy, someone like a Omar Vizquel or someone that can be the future, not a guy who has already been around.

While I can see your point regarding giving the managerial job to someone in house, I would disagree about Omar Vizquel over Joe Girardi. There is only a 3 year age difference, so I would think his experience and .554 winning pct far outweighs your concerns about "a guy who has already been around." Plus, Vizquel has no MLB managerial experience making him a complete gamble for what could be the make or break years for keeping Trout around.

Fans like you continue to support Scioscia the one hit wonder from 2002.

one hit wonder, eh? okay A-bob. we'll go ahead and ignore the most successful run in team history under his tenure and just focus on how lucky we were in 2002, and that will simply define everything about the man.

“It was a buntable ball,” Scioscia said. “Erick just didn’t get it done. That happens.” Scioscia will blame his player's , I can never remember him taking  responsibility for his mistakes.

It was a buntable ball!!!  Come on now.  I've slammed Sosh for a ton of shit over the years, but he made the right call and Aybar blew it.  There is no excuse for Aybar not getting the bat on the ball, even if it was a foul tip.

"Scioscia...squeeze bunt...fail...bad!"

"Raymond, you've got to stop this obsession with Scioscia. Just stop it! That squeeze bunt was a million years ago. It doesn't matter anymore, why can't you understand?!"

"No playoffs...Scioscia...time for a change...bad!"

"Raymond, why don't think of a happy thought, something positive about the Angels? You'll feel better. Go ahead, think happy thoughts."

"Pitchers and catchers report."

"There you go Raymond, I knew you could do it. Now let's go to the casino and win some money!"

Girardi has a history of not getting along with the front office. With Miami, But and the Yankees. I don't think Eppler will go down that street.

But he has a history of getting along with Eppler:

“That’s my normal,” said Eppler, who was plucked from the New York Yankees’ front office. “I was like that with (Joe) Girardi. We would talk a lot. There’s times where, in January if the team’s done, we can take a break, you know. But if there’s things going on with the club in-season, talk all the time. All the time.”

This picture almost looks like he is the intermediary between Girardi and Cashman

I don't know Girardi, never met the guy, but I feel very strongly he would not pencil in a declining Albert Pujols in the cleanup spot, night after night. No way.

That's the one thing that really drives me crazy about Scioscia.

You must be under the impression that Sosh and Eppler are in disagreement about Pujols spot in the lineup.

I remember when he first became manager of the angels, he was very audacious and confronted Mo Vaughn about why he wasn't putting up the same numbers we expect from Boston.  If you made a bonehead play or error, you got benched the next day. He was a no nonsense guy.  I really liked that Scioscia.

But Scioscia has really changed since he got that 10 year contract. Now he puts a washed up Pujols in the clean up spot and gives players a high five after a bonehead play.

Facts don't matter..    Reality doesn't matter.    If people here watched other teams as obsessively as they do the Angels they would see every manager make mistakes and follow the same patterns..    But, again....  reality doesn't matter.

My guess is Girardi’s greatest asset is he isn’t Mike Scioscia.

Was watching MLB Network last night -- Al Leiter and Jim Thome were among the people discussing Boone and his taking over the Yankees manager spot -- was hilarious to see two pretty accomplished guys both saying the best managers they played for tended to always be the same regardless of the situation, always steady, and weren't prone to reactions or massive changes after a bad spell.  Guys that trusted their players and trusted them to play to their abilities..   They praised Boone as a likable guy who is adept at dealing with the media and who's temperament should allow him to succeed.

But hey.... Joe Armchair thinks different, they want to see guys who get on guys and blow up all the time...so...
