Wait, did I miss something? Last time I heard they assured us nothing is wrong and the injection was just a precaution. Now it's a ucl injury, but "don't worry"?

I guess that there’s no clear out come.  Some recover fine, some end up with the surgery. 

Time will tell.  Glad AF he’s got that platlet injection.

I don't see the problem, we get him for six years, so even after the TJ and the ensuing shoulder/oblique/knee/groin surgeries after he comes back too early and reinjures himself, we'll still get two decent years out of him.

I think the Angels should give every pitcher an injection at the end of the season as a preventative measure. Maybe it could prevent our pitching staff from clogging up the disabled list.

Every team knew about this beforehand, why is everyone freaking out? We are going to go with a 6 man rotation to lessen his and everybody else’s work load. Also, JC Ramirez had a much worse injury and prevented Tommy John. It has also been pointed out that if he does have to go under the knife and get Tommy John done it was still a massive win for the Angels to get him and have to wait 1 year to recover from surgery (Tropeano & Heaney)

Maybe MLB should be proactive (like the concussion rule in football) and stipulate that starting pitchers can only make one start per week, and then increase the roster size from 25 to 28 to compensate.  The players union would approve.  This would keep more pitchers on the field, and give more players a chance in the majors thus growing the union size.  Plus it forces pitching depth for all teams.  Also require that all teams carry seven starters at all times.  for the playoffs, you could shorten it to five days.
