Yes, arguably the best pitcher in Angels history. Had a lot of great years with the team. Pretty underrated as well.

nolan ryan says hello.

that you don't know this is mind-boggling (or else you're incredibly young, which is hardly an excuse for this topic).

I'd rate the all-time best Angels pitchers as follows (Angels careers only):

1. Nolan Ryan

2. Chuck Finley

3. Jered Weaver

4. Mike Witt

5. Frank Tanana

6. John Lackey

7. Dean Chance

8. Mark Langston

After that it gets dicey. Anyhow, even if you're more bullish on Jered, he still belongs in the top 5 all-time pitchers, so if the top 5 all-time Angels starters don't belong in the Angels Hall of Fame, I don't know who does.

Where does Tanana, Chance, and Finley fall into that category.

I am not questioning Weavers greatness, just it seemed rather short lived.  Could be wrong.

It's been ages since the Angels retired a number. I wonder how long they're going to wait to retire Salmon's, GA's, and others' numbers.

I'm still wondering why they haven't retired 15 and 16 yet. Why the delay?

That is why I said "arguably". I knew Ryan pitched for the Angels and had a decent amount of good seasons but so did Weaver. I just don't remember how many good seasons Ryan had with the Angels.

Does ervin santana make it in the top 10? Im not saying he does, just wondering who wed slot in front of him.

Angels HOF sure.

I'm always of the belief that you do not retire a players number unless they make the baseball HOF. You want retired numbers to mean something and not do it because it feels warm and fuzzy.

So if Vlad gets voted in and goes in with an Angels uni, do you retire the number and tell Trout he's outta luck and has to pick another number?
