I wonder if this changes the offseason approach for teams like the Jays and more specifically the O’s with Machado.

O’s may be even more willing to listen on Manny now if they’re being realistic about their chances for competing in this division.

Starlin Castro is apparently in the deal going to Miami. 

Owed 10 in 18 and 11 in 19 with a club option for 16 in 2020...

Could be worth a call to Miami for

This Stanton to the Yankees trade was definitely a knee-jerk reaction because they didn't get Ohtani. The Yankees were about as stunned as Dipoto when Ohtani didn’t choose them. Now everybody knows that the Red Sox will now be on the clock for Hosmer or Mouse.

I was thinking the same thing. He could be flipped over to us and make Dipoto look even stupider.

Now the Padres will end up being the biggest losers again in all of this. Didn’t end up getting Ohtani and now like you said, Sox will go get Hosmer, someone who the Padres have already met with and are targeting

Hosmer would be a terrible signing for the Padres. It's best for them to not sign him.

It would be worth a call. That's not much money - about a 1 WAR player. Castro is a little better than that. 

His defense has been bad in recent years. Not sure that fits Eppler's style.

I can't imagine Castro will sell a lot of jerseys in Miami.

That OBP is nice and would be solid to have at the top of the order? Not to mention he’s a lefty...

We’d have to find something to do with Kole but it’s a thought
