The Angels and Mariners have added international bonus pool money tonight. The Padres can't offer Ohtani more than $300,000 in a bonus. But neither can the Cubs, Dodgers or Giants - also finalists.

So all NL teams cannot offer DH, and cannot offer more than $300k. 

All three AL West teams can offer millions and at-bats. 

I think we have our three finalists, otherwise, why the intensity to acquire a million bucks here and there? Even if we don't sign Ohtani, Eppler can use that money to basically replace Pearson with another int'l prospect or three. Not a bad deal.

This bodes well. Not sure the Rangers or Mariners extra money offsets what we can offer that much. Hard for any of us to put value on those intangibles, but this definitely makes it look like those three clubs are in the lead.

Minnesota probably broadcast to the Ohtani finalists they'd be open to trading money over if anyone felt they needed it for Shohei. As soon as Eppler and Dipoto got an update, they called.
