Cops come in and shoot good guy with a gun.  It was only the strangest of coincidences that the good guy with a gun was a black guy.

Got to have those guns ready to shoot first and ask questions later.

Wrong thread, guys.  This thread is about vehicles death machines.

You'll have to excuse yk. He's just got to learn the rules of the road in the political forum.

No word yet if the guy will be brought up on murder charges.

When I was working at the women's prison here, we had an inmate who fell asleep at the wheel (too much weed, allegedly) and she plowed through the median, killing eight youth offenders on a highway cleanup detail.

This is the thread normally reserved for Jeff’s false equivalency argument.

Since way more people are killed as a result of vehicles than guns each year, I suppose you're right.  It is a false equivalency.  We should probably focus on the bigger problem, delete the gun thread and keep this one going.

So sad.  I seem to remember the national media not stopping everything to cover that mass murder.

Trout's debut was April 28th in his rookie year. He played 138 that season after missing the first 20 in an extended Spring training at triple A because he missed regular spring training with the flu. In total he didn't play in 4 of the 162 regular season games once called up. So the leaving the light on was a pretty stupid statement at the time.

That's incorrect. He was called up in the previous season. I'm sure of it as we were in town that week and it happened to be the game that we attended. It was in the summer.

It was stupid, though.

no, it was waiting until April 28th.  Because idiot Sosh had to play Vernon Wells, or some other trash.

I tried to make it clear but failed. My intention was to say in his first full rookie year.

No, it was because Trout had such a severe case of the flu he lost 15 lbs. They stuck him in triple A to get his Spring training time in and fatten up. During that time the Angels tried to trade Bobby Abreu and when that failed they outright released him. Then Trout was called up.

Scioscia had to play the roster he was given. Once given Mike he started him in left field then moved him to center bumping Boujos to left in a platoon. Trout played almost exclusively the rest of the season while Vernon Wells platooned in left field.

It's called facts.

Trout was so debilitated with that severe case of the flu that April, here's what he did at Salt Lake:

Trout was hitting .403/.467/.623 in 20 games for the Bees, with 11 walks and 16 strikeouts in 77 at-bats. He had also stolen six bases in seven attempts while collecting five triples.

They were futzing around with vets, instead of bringing up THE player of this generation.

They lied about the reason, and some rubes here bought the Angels' excuse.

To make room for Trout the Angels released Bobby Abreu. This was one of the more telegraphed moves of the season. The Angels have not been shy about trying to find a new team for Abreu, and at one point had a deal to ship Abreu to the Indians, though it fell apart over how much of Abreu’s salary Anaheim would eat. But while it was a telegraphed move, it was also the wrong one. Whether or not you are of the opinion that there is anything left to salvage of Vernon Wells’ career or not, he is now completely redundant on Anaheim’s roster. Today, Wells will ride the pine, with Trout, Peter Bourjos and Torii Hunter starting from left to right in the outfield. You’ll notice something about those three players, and that is that like Wells, they’re all right-handed hitters.

In Spring Training, the Angels used a pair of excuses to ship Trout back to the Minors. One was that he battled a virus and lost some weight, with the other potentially being more serious — he had shoulder tendinitis. But since Trout went out and clubbed four doubles, five triples and a homer in his first 20 games at Salt Lake, it seems his shoulder is just fine and dandy. The real reason he was sent down was that the Angels had a conundrum on the corners, and since he is the rookie, he drew the short end of the stick. And he would have likely continued to draw that short end had the Angels started strong. After all, it took a five-game losing streak to get him called up, despite the fact that he was hitting over .400 in the Minors.
