New Wi-Fi hack

The hack allows a bad guy to figure out the secret private key that vouches for a secure connection by forcing the user to reuse it. This allows the bad guy to pretend to be a known and trusted wifi connection. Think the Millennium Falcon sneaking onto the Death Star with the old security codes.  Once the connection is established the bad guy can view the contents of unsecured traffic going to and from the victim's device. It would also give them more opportunity to use another possible hack to view even the secured traffic.

There is a fix that better enforces the requirement to always use a new key and not a dirty old one. Your Windows, Apple or even Linux PCs will likely be patched very very quickly if they haven't been already. The iPhone as well. But...  Android devices (except very specific ones) aren't patched very quickly at all. You're lucky to get monthly patches. And network hardware may never get a security patch.
