This was an article about nothing. The 1911 Colt .45 can be purchased in any gun store, in it's original form or the more modernized and accurate version. 

When I was in Civil Air Patrol they had a couple of Colt .45 semi autos that we got to train with, it was still standard issue in the 70's. It was quick to load, easy to fire and kicked hard. I got to the point I could dissamble and reassemble it pretty quickly making it very easy to clean.

Damn, now I want one.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program got a bunch of US WWII M1s last year for purchase. I wish I could get one of those pistols that is in decent shape. I'm sure most of them need some gunsmithing work. I've heard good things about this program in terms of their training and promotion of gun safety.
