I would have thought the league would have caught up with him by now but his outings seem to be getting stronger. Texas is third in the AL for runs scored and yet he was able to effectively shut them down.

three good pitches.  good command.  peripherals aren't great this year, but watching him tonight makes you realize that he still has potential.  being able to repeat that performance could make him a true #3.  I like his current work, but I also like his future.

He also shutdown Boston twice, Minnesota, Baltimore and Toronto's offenses as well. Seattle if they count.

Outside of Oakland he has been outstanding.

I think Bridwell is going to like Weaver in this regard - he's going to outperform his FIP constantly. The peripherals won't always be the sexiest and he's going to get hammered on occasion or by a specific team but he has a game plan and he knows how to execute it to a high degree, even if he doesn't have the stuff to match the results.

Hopefully we're not Ramirezin' him with IP now though.

At worst this guy is a pretty good number 5 starter next year. He throws strikes and has flashed the ability to miss bats. Just a great pickup by Eppler.
