is that a falcon or a hawk? we've got a red tail hawk family that have nested on our campus for over three decades.

We have a couple of hawks that patrol our neighborhood looking for rabbits and small pets

Huge wingspan and hawks will cruise without flapping thier wings

Beautiful birds

Saw those in Yellowstone during the winter a couple years ago.

Absolutely beautiful and majestic birds.

They most certainly are, especially when in flight.

In Big Bear, we have an area that is a Bald Eagle preserve on the North shore near Gray’s Landing, and there are approximately 16 eagles that have been tagged in the area.

We also have the famous Jackie and Shadow, who for the past 5 years, have come back to their nest, laid their egg(s), brought in fish from the lake, and parented the baby Eaglets, all the while we can watch from 2 separate camera feeds through the Friends of Big Bear Valley live feed.

it’s pretty awesome to check in and watch nature.

Got back from a weekend bender in Tahoe.  No hiking, because it was snowing off and on.  Some notes.  Caltrans hard at work keeping the road open.  Didn't see any flooding in the roads up north.  It wasn't until I was back in So Cal where there was flooding.  Also, it wasn't until I was back in So Cal that I saw a homeless shut down the northbound 405, because he wanted to walk along it.

These two ducks said F flying south for the winter.  Kind of like a certain hockey team I know that would rather ride out a crappy season than do the smart things.

Finally got to try #33.

Sunday and today.  The rains did a number on the trails.  If the city doesn't do any maintenance soon, which they won't, some of these trails are going to be quite dangerous.  But got my first coyote sighting of the year.  They must be pretty happy now that they are the alpha predators on the hill.

The wife and I absolutely love Heavenly @gotbeer.  What a great place to ski, and the village you were in, is a great place to unwind after a day or two on the slopes.
