The last time the Angels faced a lefty was Monday, the Angels starting 2nd baseman, Cowart.

That makes even less sense then. So he starts against Paxton, then sits against Gonzales (7.40 ERA), sits against Miranda (4.78 ERA), sits against Gio Gonzalez (as he should), sits against Tillman (who has an awful ERA and isn't even a lefty), starts against Hamels, then sits again against Perez (5.20 ERA). He starting against the hardest matchups and sitting in the matchups where he could be gaining valuable experience hitting against mediocre lefties.

Cowart is a switch hitter.  And Scioscia still wont play him against lefties.

How do you know he cant hit them if he never faces them?  I dont get it.

Ok...time to back off the Scioscia hate.  He is slumping and has played q lot recently.  No harm sitting him occasionally.  And this coming from a person who was crical of sitting Cowart at first.

Maybe he's trying to set up Cowart to fail, and Pennington to succeed, so he can justify the platoon.
