This is ridiculous.  Trade Calhoun during his worst season?  Why?  DFA guys?  For what reason?  These guys aren't blocking anyone.  Trade Escobar and Norris, sure, the rest is stupid.

If Maybin was still alive I would add him to that list also. Kole Calhoun consistently falls into deep slumps. He had a good June and that's it. Oh and the ball hit the wall. I took a picture of the dent between the M & I just for you.  :P

White Sox are trading Anthony Swarzak to the Brewers for their #17 prospect, Ryan Cordell.
This is fairly close to a comp for our relievers. Swarzak has had a fairly unremarkable MLB career, is 31 years old, and a free agent at the end of the season.
The Brewers are likely a little desperate, having seen the Cubs roar back and acquire Quintana.

Swarzak: 48.1 IP, 2.23 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 190 ERA +, 2.34 FIP, 6.9 H9, 0.4 HR9, 2.4 BB9, 9.7 K9, 1.8 WAR - 31 years old
B.Norris: 40.1 IP, 2.23 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 191 ERA+, 2.85 FIP, 6.2 H9, 0.7 HR9, 3.3 BB9, 11.4 K9, 1.5 WAR - 32 years old
Y. Petit: 53.2 IP, 2.85 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 149 ERA+, 3.00 FIP, 6.9 H9, 0.8 HR9, 2.0 BB9, 9.4 K9, 0.8 WAR - 32 years old
Hernandez: 32.2 IP, 2.48 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 172 ERA+, 1.83 FIP, 7.2 H9, 0.0 HR9, 2.2 BB9, 9.6 K9, 0.8 WAR - 32 years old

As for Cordell, he was the PTBNL in the Lucroy trade from Texas.
He was an 11th rounder, 6'4", 195, R/R, played all all OF and corner IF in minors.
He has been playing at Colorado Springs, the AAA affiliate. Very inflated offensive numbers usually.
.284/.349/.506/.855 - 18 2B, 5 3B, 10 HR, 45 RBI, 9 SB, 4 CS, 25 BB to 65 K
Over his minor league career, slashing .276/.339/.468/.807

Our likely return for one of our vet relievers is probably along the lines of a #15-#30 prospect depending on the org's strength, either someone higher floor/lower ceiling who is MLB ready, or higher-upside with some tools lacking.

Eduardo Nunez of the SF Giants was just taken out of the game vs.Pittsburgh up at AT&T Park in SF.........he was taken out of the game in about the 7th inning or so,

Obviously has been traded..........trade will be announced after the game.

MLB-TV and Giants broadcast showed pictures of Nunez coming off the field, down the tunnel and team -mates shaking his hand, saying their good byes......

where is he going -- will be announced soon.........

Giants shopping Span. Seems to be having a pretty good year, controlled for 2 more years, and would be cheaper than Maybin. Any thoughts?

Little worried about his age (33). He could certainly add something in LF but he doesn't feel like a good solution to me personally.

If only there was a young 20 something year old with speed that could get on base and hit for power that plays gold glove defense that we could build a team around. For sure then the Los Angeles Counties but not really Los Angeles Angels of the 5/22 Freeways near Anaheim could get back into the playoff hunt.
