Only two BB, that's even better. He's had a problem with that but is improving. Control was great today. 96 pitches, 70 strikes.

The Braves think he will be an ace in the not distant future.

I call the trade a tie.

Both teams won. Newcomb is 23 years old and a potential ace. Simmons is young enough and the best defensive player around, and not a bad hitter either. The other two we gave away never panned out.

He's still only 23? I would've guessed he was around 25.

I disliked the trade because I didn't think we would be competitive in the years we would get the most value out of Simmons.

He turns 24 in a couple of days. I watched the first 3 innings. The breaking ball can be a pretty good pitch. The fastball was on the hitters quicker than the radar gun might have indicated but with a less generous umpire his fastball command might get him in trouble
