#Angels Doug Fister is on the Inland Empire roster as a paper move. He will work out in Arizona and then pitch for AAA SLC.

I posted about two weeks ago that signing Fister would probably be as close to a No Harm No Foul (thanks Chick Hearn) move we could make as long as we did not over-pay.

Our rotation needs some help and he's worth a flyer.

I thought that then, I think it now.

But GEEZ -- did I get a lot of smack talk posts back from that post.........saying he hasn't been an effective starter in almost three years now.

I guess we'll find out.

Who's Lincecum pitching for these days???  Geez, the shelf life of top quality MLB starters (and as a multiple Cy Young award winner, Lincenum was certainly a top quality MLB starter) is quite short these days and the end comes quickly......almost like these guys fall off an effectiveness cliff.....

NEW YORK (AP) — Looking to reinforce an injury-ravaged pitching staff, the Los Angeles Angels agreed Saturday to a deal with Doug Fister that pays $1.75 million while he is in the major leagues and $100,000 in the minors.

Fister can earn an addition $1 million in performance bonuses based on starts: $100,000 each for eight, 10 and 12; $150,000 apiece for 14, 16 and 18; and $250,000 for 20. He also could get $200,000 for relief appearances: $50,000 each for 25 and 30, and $100,000 for 25.

So basically a deal comparable to what Norris and Petit signed. Good move, no risk.
